The BWF World Training Centre (WTC) Sofia was established in July 2005. This is a badminton Development Centre and it offers high performance training in a world class facility.

The high performance programs are designed for players from less developed and developing nations who do not have the facilities, coaches or programs to develop talented young badminton players.

The centre generally runs one month training and development programs. These programs often provide players with their first structured experience in high performance training. Programs aim to better prepare players for international competition.
