WILSON SWISS OPEN SUPER SERIES 2008

 REGULATIONS/OFFICIALS

The Championship will be run strictly in accordance with the Super Series Championship Regulations of BWF. 

- Seedings and Draws will be conducted by BWF.
- Withdrawal
        - Please inform the Tournament Committee (Charles A. Keller) about any withdrawals as soon as possible, at least 7 days prior to the event - any withdrawal must be accompanied by an appropriate certification. If withdrawal is notified by telephone it must be confirmed in writing. If withdraw takes place after the draw is made, any withdraw for illness or injury must be supported by a medical certificate. If withdraw arises after your players arrive in Basel, notification of withdrawal must be made by the Team Manager to the Referee and must be confirmed in writing.
- Doping Testing will be executed.
- Shuttles WILSON is the official shuttlecock (BWF approved) for the Swiss Open

REFEREES

 
  • Referee of the Championship is Mr. Mohan Dharan (SIN).
  • Deputy Referee of the Championship is Mr. Pencho Stoynov (BUL).
  • Local Deputy Referee of the Championship is Fryer Barbara (SUI).
 

Readlines

 

All events will be run on a strict time scale basis. Competitors should be ready to play 30 minutes before their scheduled time. If players are not ready to play at the scheduled time they will be disqualified. Alterations due to TV-coverage are possible and will be announced by the Referee.

 

Modifications

 

In case of modifications or in order to give us further information: write them on the registration forms and resend them (per fax or through the internet by e-Mail). Please advise us also on any modification to the rooming list as far as accommodation is concerned..

 

Conditions of play

 

The Swiss Open will be conducted under the conditions laid down by the Badminton World Federation governing BWF Super Series Events (in the event of any dispute, the decision of the Tournament Referee will be final).

 

Clothing & Advertising

The following points are essential extracts from the BWF Super Series competition regulations. For more details please refer to said regulations.

Clothing All clothing worn by players during play shall be acceptable badminton sports clothing.

Colour Each article of clothing may be of any colour or combination of colours. It is mandatory for doubles partner to ear the same colour from the quarter finals onwards. It is recommended that, from the quarter finals onwards, the opposing pairs in each match wear different colours from each other.

Advertising The shirt may carry advertising as defined below:
a) Up to three adverts each of 20 square centimetres or less, on the following locations: left sleeve, right sleeve, left collar, right collar, front of shirt (only one advert per location).
b) Advertising contained in a band of uniform width not exceeding 10 centimetres; such a band may be at any angle and may be on the front of other shirt, the back of the shirt or both.

Other clothing c) Each sock and each shoe may carry two adverts provided each is 20 square centimetres or less. d) Each other article of clothing may carry one advert as in e). The adverts in a) to f) may be the clothing manufacturer's emblem or that of any sponsor.

Lettering and designs on player's clothing g) The back of the shirt must carry the name of the player, complying with BWF Competition Regulation 22.3 (see BWF Statute Book); please make sure your name appears on the back of all your shirts used during play and is of a height of minimum 6 centimetres and maximum 10 centimetres. h) The shirt may carry on the front the flag or national emblem of the country represented. i) The sequence of lettering on the shirt from top to bottom shall be: player name - country name - advert.

 

Indemnity

Any participating association and its delegated competitors / officials should agree to indemnify and hold the organizing committee free and unaccountable for and against any claims for personal injury, death or property damage, arising out of or in any way resulting from the participation in the said tournament.

 

Media

On request players must be available (not to exceed 1 hour in total on the day prior to their first scheduled singles or doubles match of the tournament. At Super Series tournaments, it is a condition of entry that each player must be willing to give on-court interviews for television immediately after a match whether the match has been won or lost, and to attend a post-match press conference on request.

 

Photo material

BWF has the right to use photographs, film material or any other image of players taken during events sanctioned by BWF.

 

Video recording

Written authorisation for the use of any video equipment must be obtained in advance from the Championships Office, which must be clearly displayed on the cameras. Security will confiscate cameras set up in incorrect positions or without a pass.

 

Badges

Entry to the arena for players and officials will be controlled at the entrance to the hall. Badges will be issued to all nominated persons.
